Our research network grew and we uncovered a pivotal truth: the skin microbiome isn’t just a passive layer—it’s a living, responsive ecosystem. Its balance influences skin reactivity and how it responds to stress and its environment. The skin’s appearance, glow, texture, tone, often mirrors what's happening beneath the surface and its two way communication. A thriving microbiome supports skin hydration, barrier function, and resilience—making skin look healthier and more vibrant. Through research and scientific collaborations, we started building our expertise in decoding how microbial communities interact with the skin and with ingredient chemistry.

Our early research uncovered what conventional skincare formulation often overlooks: ingredient overload. We recognized that ingredients don’t act in isolation—they interact chemically, biologically and ecologically. When too many skincare actives are layered, they can clash chemically, destabilize the skin microbiome thus weakening the skin’s barrier. More is not better when it comes to skin microbiology. Some ingredients leave behind persistent antimicrobial effects that alter microbial balance over time, compromising the skin’s ability to protect, repair and regulate itself. We choose to formulate according to clinical principles—selecting ingredients for their synergistic behavior, guided by biological alignment, safety and supporting long-term skin resilience.

We believe great skin starts with deeply understanding it. This belief sparked the inception of Skinara, where we became the first company globally to introduce skin swab alongside gut microbiome testing analyses. Our platform goes beyond cosmetics, capturing advanced molecular insights to reveal how ecosystems interact across the body. This breakthrough defined what we believe is the Gold Standard in Skin Health—an approach that’s not cosmetic and static, but dynamic and biologically aligned. We began by focusing on sensitive skin, diabetic care and pediatric health for early intervention and biologically intelligent formulations.

We recognized a gap: the long‑term risks of UVA exposure were being underestimated in sunscreens, even as UV intensity increases. The bioaccumulative effects of UVA—linked to skin cancer, immune suppression, pigmentation and premature aging—demand a more rigorous level of protection, starting in childhood. This led us to design the world’s first sunscreen with up to 3× the usual UVA protection of standard European sunscreens. UVA protection needs to be elevated, especially for sensitive, diabetic and pediatric skin, where resilience is not a given. Our mission is to prevent the silent, cumulative damage that begins long before symptoms appear.
